Social Rehabilitation Centers

Our Middletown and Chester Social Rehabilitation Centers provide opportunities for adults to work and learn together, to build relationships, and to connect with others. The dedicated center staff assists clients in contributing their talents to managing both centers.

Middletown Social Rehabilitation Center

The following five units are available to clients in the Middletown location:

  1. Culinary Unit – Skill building involving meal preparation. Clients clip coupons, review circulars, plan meals, shop for groceries, cook, and clean up.
  2. Business Unit – Manages the financial aspect of the coffee and lunch service through the creation of meal tickets to the collection of fees for lunch and coffee. They also organize outreach to club members who may be hospitalized or temporarily placed in skilled nursing facilities.
  3. Property Management – Maintains the club’s building inside and out.
  4. Communications Unit – Maintains and updates bulletin boards, and produces a quarterly newsletter.
  5. Recreation Unit – Develops the monthly calendar, researches activities and local events, and plans community outings.

Our Middletown Social Rehabilitation Center follows the Fountain House model in NYC.

This program offers a wide range of housing, educational, employment and social service programs that facilitate recovery and rehabilitation.

Free at Last Players

Free At Last Players is a not-for-profit theater group dedicated to dispelling myths and misconceptions that surround mental illness.

Founded in 1989, the group, based out of the Middletown Social Rehabilitations Center, has performed all over Connecticut and the United States with shows consisting of songs, poems and skits created by the groups’ members.

Gateway Treatment Program

The Gateway Community Treatment Team provides a variety of services focused on rehabilitation services and recovery support to help individuals achieve and maintain independence in the community.

Our dedicated staff provides case management, community support, crisis intervention, group and individual counseling and skill building.

The following five units are available to clients in the Chester location:
